The dream world that they enter is shrouded in darkness. What was always an everlasting night has now taken even the stars from them. The only light comes from small, floating torches that flicker. Through what little light they have to guide them, they can see a small familiar form waiting up ahead.  Coming closer, they can indeed tell that Sheepy is waiting.

Now more than ever it is important that they arm themselves with the evidence that they have collected regarding the mastermind behind all this. Because this is the only chance they'll ever get to present it. Though death has always been the risk, now it's all or nothing.

Sheepy waits for them all to join her before grinning.

"Well, well, well... here we all are. Not all that many of you left, are there? Ah-- but then... maybe there won't be any of you left after this. Keheheheheh!! So let's make the most out of this last little session, shall we? Think you have it all figured out? Well let's find out. Like you were told, you gotta name all the remaining gunmen as well as the mastermind. So. Let's begin."

The cat is duplicated from a member's cat in his world, right? We should hear about how it originally acted.

...Good question, we can ask Noé if his cat's an asshole. Or if it's at least the sort to let a total stranger strap packing tape to it.

Seems especially relevant as I don't recall him ever freaking out about the cat he already received being different. I may have missed it, of course.

But if there was no such discrepancy, there is a hole in the argument. I'm sure his regain cat was printed as much as all our regains were.

Maybe something went wrong with those printed cats and the hostages?

Or maybe something was not implanted into them that was implanted into the better versions. Reasons may well be the amount of resources needed to make a completed copy.

Of course I am just tossing options out. I do not readily believe in myself being a fake.

There wasn't much time to do that to the cats, though. Top Dollar-san and I were right there when they came out of the machines.

[ She gently folds the #3's ears inside-out. You know what cats do when that happens? Shake their heads to try to get them back to normal. She waits.

I meant the reverse situation.

We have been implanted with nanodevices that make us able to participate in the experiment. There is no saying what else might have been done with us or the functional cat - should there be any difference in cats here.

T-They did have records of performing surgery on us, that's right.

Uhm... honestly, I don't think Murr would have let you put tape on him. He's not loud, but he can be kind of fussy.

And he's not always very good with strangers either.

Was there anything off about the copy of Murr that you have had around this far? Was he fussy?

Hmm... well. He was rather docile... but I originally thought that was just because he wasn't used to the environment.

[GUESS HE WAS WRONG.]

That's one point towards us not being clones.

He'd let Top Dollar tape regain Murr as well for comparison but regain Murr isn't here, so no dice. ]

The hostages act like people would, too - to an extent, anyway. You saw the tape of Yukino's hostage dying, yeah? They seem scared of the execution robots, but that's probably just, y'know, being a human. You see some big thing coming toward you like that, you're gonna move whether you have memories telling you what it is or not.

Yeah, I think that's more of a muscle reaction. I don't think you need anything more than that to be scared of something that can kill you.

Normally I'm shit with animals, too, if that makes a difference.

[And then there's Number Twelve over here, just. chilling.]

Yeah, if you're not good with animals, he'll typically make it difficult for you-- he doesn't like Vanitas very much.

[But these cats are chill. Like. Well. Good cats. Almost too good...]

And this one hasn't complained the whole time I've been holding him...

[ She's basically been holding him since she took him out of the printer pod, um. He's like a breathing plush or something.

Pet, pet. It may be lobotocat but petting it is still soothing. ]

[Seeing so many copies of Murr is really, really, really weird... but he's glad that the cat(s) are helping at least.]
