The Final Trial

The Final Trial ‹ Mastermind ›

The dream world that they enter is shrouded in darkness. What was always an everlasting night has now taken even the stars from them. The only light comes from small, floating torches that flicker. Through what little light they have to guide them, they can see a small familiar form waiting up ahead.  Coming closer, they can indeed tell that Sheepy is waiting.

Now more than ever it is important that they arm themselves with the evidence that they have collected regarding the mastermind behind all this. Because this is the only chance they'll ever get to present it. Though death has always been the risk, now it's all or nothing.

Sheepy waits for them all to join her before grinning.

"Well, well, well... here we all are. Not all that many of you left, are there? Ah-- but then... maybe there won't be any of you left after this. Keheheheheh!! So let's make the most out of this last little session, shall we? Think you have it all figured out? Well let's find out. Like you were told, you gotta name all the remaining gunmen as well as the mastermind. So. Let's begin."

But...if Aloysius is a computer program, wouldn't someone need to run it?

[ ????? a magus from 2004 may as well be a dude from 1994, tech-wise, but she's guessing her best. ]

... Perhaps they could be hiding somewhere in the dreamworld? It is dark, and the only evidence that I believe has pointed towards an individual being the mastermind I surmised may have been the correspondences between the Director and Sandra.

However, there was an individual named Aloysius mentioned in one of the pieces of information unearthed through investigation, who is responsible for sending out the incentives, who I suspect could be the mastermind.

[personal profile] tibkins 2017-01-22 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what? A program? Then the Aloysius that gave us the motives is--

[Well that makes sense, now that she thinks about it]

I never thought this Aloysius person wasn't a human...

[personal profile] simplism 2017-01-22 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh thank god he's not the only one thinking this. He doesn't know much about computers but the more Sheepy talked about it the more it got him thinking that there was something to it.]

Yeah, those documents... It sounds like Aloysius is the... thing responsible for running everything? The dreamscapes, the sheep... Logically, doesn't that mean you couldn't do any of this without it?
scythegun: (DECISION ⇝ you're totally fucked)

[personal profile] scythegun 2017-01-22 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sheepy did say that she's not the only one watching us here.

[He then nods in Top Dollar's direction.]

I think the two of you are onto something. Our mastermind might not be someone we can get at outside of this world.

I think it's just a coincidence. All the other letter match the culprit. None of them match "R. Garcia", either.

[ they must be missing something time to ... try to read everything again. this is why he hates studying. ]
simplism: (Default)

[personal profile] simplism 2017-01-22 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
But wouldn't that explain why someone like Sandra was necessary?
unlikelyend: (In...vestigating????)

[personal profile] unlikelyend 2017-01-22 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I see...

[ It's all coming together now. ]

So we now have the name of our mastermind at this point. Hopefully we may be able to locate them and have it taken care of somehow.

[ But as far as he's concerned, he's made his decision regarding votes. ]

If the other staff were all here like Sandra with the intention of supporting this Aloysis, then it does make sense.

Especially considering the trial is here, and not in the real world. If our Mastermind was a normal person... to confront them, wouldn't doing so in the real world be more logical?
devilsnight: (SMOKE † try it again with less stupid)

[personal profile] devilsnight 2017-01-22 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sounds like. Something's bothering me about that, though.

[...]

Recently, we've been able to see the sheep outside of the dream world. We've seen her in the hotel.

If that's the case, that means nothing we've done here has been real. Right? If the program's creating dreamscapes but the sheep's there when we're awake, then doesn't that mean we're all in motherfucking St. Elsewhere and this is all happening in our fucking heads?
scythegun: (CONSIDER ⇝ hair-playing intensifies)

[personal profile] scythegun 2017-01-22 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
That's actually what I'm wondering... Is it right for us to vote at all? Perhaps what we should be doing is looking to see if we can find our mastermind here.
simplism: (pic#10769589)

[personal profile] simplism 2017-01-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
...re-reading the documents about Aloysis... it doesn't say anything that the dreamscapes can only be made in the dream world right? I mean.... it's a program, so... why couldn't it create one in the hotel?

[He feels... REALLY STUPID saying this but. He doesn't know any reason why not, right.........?]

[personal profile] inordertobelieve 2017-01-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
It certainly sounds like it, yet the documents we have received refer to replicating the actions of the dreamscape in an awake state - the experiment would not fulfill its requirements if this was all a dream.
scythegun: (NEUTRAL ⇝ this ain't a scene)

[personal profile] scythegun 2017-01-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
It certainly makes more sense to me to hold it in the real world. They had to go to all the trouble to bring us back here, after all!
devilsnight: (WHAT † fuckin' musicians am i right)

[personal profile] devilsnight 2017-01-22 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
The, uh, notes, I guess? They sounded like Aloysius was pretty much able to make decisions for itself while it was running, based on our...data, or something.

[TECHNOLOGICALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE UNITE???]
respring: (a sad story ₎ let me explain)

[personal profile] respring 2017-01-22 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
That could be possible. [ Likely, even. ] But, I don't think the staff members could see Sheepy. If we're all in the program, why can't they see her? Are they a part of the dreamscape?
simplism: (Default)

[personal profile] simplism 2017-01-22 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
And unless it's some kind of weird programmer... thing-- none of which we've heard of or met how could they watch us unless they were here as well?
devilsnight: (Default)

[personal profile] devilsnight 2017-01-22 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
So we're all just fucking hallucinating instead. Great.
inordertobelieve: (stern: listening)

[personal profile] inordertobelieve 2017-01-22 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Or they don't have the same technological implants we have.
scythegun: (REALIZE ⇝ estelle's the princess?)

[personal profile] scythegun 2017-01-22 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
It would be impossible for there to be anyone else in the hotel that we simply missed seeing, ja? This is the only explanation that makes sense to me.
devilsnight: (Default)

[personal profile] devilsnight 2017-01-22 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
...Okay, so most signs point to "we're all tripping some serious balls." That's. That's cute.

Our lives are already on the line. We might as well look into finding them and see where they takes us.
simplism: (pic#10769589)

[personal profile] simplism 2017-01-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well... if Sheepy was a program, it's guess it's possible that others were too...

[Although saying that makes him feel crazy.]
unlikelyend: (Eyes closed. Deep thought.)

[personal profile] unlikelyend 2017-01-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

Perhaps not now as of yet. Especially since if we vote he will not be given a proper punishment even if he is voted by a majority.

[ But he wouldn't know where to start. He thinks a bit. ]

There does not seem to be an indication as to where he may be in the dream as of yet, but if we start searching, perhaps there could wind up being something.

Hey, sheep. You relay data, right? That's what you're here for?
